AMP contractor accused of ‘dark web’ data breach

Chinese national arrested attempting to leave Australia.

A former IT contractor to embattled wealth giant AMP and Chinese national has been charged with possessing identity information to commit indictable offences.

28-year-old Yi Zheng has pleaded guilty today following his arrest in on 17 January 2019 attempting to board a flight to China. The data breach is believed to involved around 20 AMP customers.

NSW Police does not believe the matter relates to national security concerns at this stage.
