The investment strategist behind a Sydney fund manager with more than $15 billion in funds under management has revealed his outlook for what is predicted to be a turbulent 2019.
Garth Rossler of Maple-Brown Abbott spoke with Your Money chief business reporter Leo Shanahan about the year that’s been and what we can expect in the next 12 months.
With financial and resources sector stocks expected to face a difficult 12 months, he said the trick to successful investing this year is to step outside of your comfort zone by sticking to the less popular stocks.
“The market gap between the market favourites and the out of favour stuff is very wide,” Rossler told Shanahan.
“Indeed, I think you are paying a very high price to feel safe in an uncertain environment and we think you’re more likely to find value in the out of favour stuff.”
