Retirement is meant to be about enjoying the finer things in life.
But for many, thoughts of retirement comes with anxiety about whether they will be able to afford the lifestyle they aspire to.
NAB’s director of self-managed super funds, Gemma Dale, spoke to Your Money Live and shared her tips on securing your future retirement plans.
Research suggests that happiness in retirement is based around more factors than just finances, Dale said.
“They call it the four pillars of retirement happiness,” Dale said.
“Finance is the one thing people worry about the most because its something you can quantify.
“If you run out of money people know things won’t be much fun towards the end.
“People are very anxious about that aspect but there are other very important components and it’s how they work together that will determine your quality of life.”
The four pillars to retirement happiness:
- Health and wellbeing
- Staying relevant
